Minesite rehabilitation

Minesite rehabilitation is the physical work — earthworks, water, revegetation, monitoring — and the cost of that work at a nominated point in time. In NSW that cost is estimated with the Rehabilitation Cost Estimation Tool. In Queensland it sits with progressive rehabilitation and closure and estimated rehabilitation cost. RehabLedger exposes quantity × rate × modifier + allowances and will not overwrite a historic estimate.

Progressive rehabilitation can reduce remaining liability when the regulator accepts it. Completion is a later decision. RehabLedger records hectares and evidence separately from the dollars, so a completed landform is not confused with a released bond.
